چکیده

Correspondence: [email protected] Vibrations of MRI systems impair the image quality and the results of studies in different ways. In functional studies the noise could affect the subjects brain activation [1] whereas in structural studies, especially diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), the vibrations could have direct or indirect impact on the image itself [2]. Setups for measuring and simulating vibrations have been proposed before [3,4]. But most of them are not readily available or suitable for multicentric studies. Here we demonstrate the use of a general purpose accelerometer and an electronics prototyping platform to quantify the occurring frequencies and the acceleration. Ergebnisse Hintergrund Back round

Fabrication of New 3D Phantom for Measuring Geometric Distortion in Magnetic Resonance Imaging System

Introduction: Geometric distortion is a major shortcoming of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which has an important influence on the accuracy of volumetric measurements, an important parameter in neurology and oncology. Our goal is to design and construct a new three- dimensional phantom using a 3D printer in order to measure geometric distortion and its reproducibility in...

An experimental study of tympanic membrane and manubrium vibrations in rats.

Rats are potentially very useful for auditory research because the middle ear structures are easily approachable and because rats are relatively inexpensive. The goal of the present study was to better characterize the mechanics of the rat middle ear by measuring frequency responses at multiple points on the tympanic membrane and manubrium. A laser Doppler vibrometer was used to measure the vib...

P9: Cervical Spinal Cord Extraction in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Measuring Cross-Sectional Area

Multiple sclerosis (MS) refers to the lesions that accumulate in the brain and spinal cord. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive and versatile modality used to show changes in the tissues over time. There has been significant interest in evaluating the relationship between the brain atrophy and disease progression rather than the spinal cord atrophy. The cervical spinal cord h...

Development of an Advanced Optical Coherence Tomography System for Radiation Dosimetry

Introduction: According to the literature, optical coherence tomography (OCT) can be used measure radiation absorbed dose. This study was carried out to design a computed tomography system for the calculation of absorbed dose and optimization of dose delivery in radiotherapy using gel dosimeters. Material and Methods: An advanced charge-coupled device based OCT system was developed in laborator...

Design and testing of an MRI-compatible cycle ergometer for non-invasive cardiac assessments during exercise

BACKGROUND Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an important tool for cardiac research, and it is frequently used for resting cardiac assessments. However, research into non-pharmacological stress cardiac evaluation is limited. METHODS We aimed to design a portable and relatively inexpensive MRI cycle ergometer capable of continuously measuring pedalling workload while patients exercise to mai...
